Donald Trump Almost Used Nuclear Weapons against North Korea!

Stopped by White House Chief of Staff who Used Our Book as an ‘Owner’s Manual’

Consider the magnitude of this fact: we are learning now that Donald Trump was seriously considering using nuclear weapons to destroy North Korea!  How right we psychiatrists and other mental health experts were to rush to publication our book, The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President.

Not only did he damage democracy to a seriously dysfunctional degree.  Not only did he promote the spread of a deadly disease so that over one million Americans would die.  He almost caused the demise of humankind as we know it (as well as countless other species)!

With our professional training and experience, we felt we knew enough to be mandated to warn the public about the dangerous mental impairments we detected in the then-new commander-in-chief.  We felt we had to help others understand the dangers we were collectively facing.

We learned that we did: White House Chief of Staff, Four-Star General John Kelly—who had secretly consulted our book and considered it a kind of “owner’s manual” on how to contain a dangerous president—intervened to block Donald Trump from ordering the use of nuclear weapons! He appealed to Trump's pathological narcissism, which he probably learned about from our book.

We were correct to warn the nation and the world about Donald Trump as soon as he took powerful presidential powers.  We are hearing of some crucial details only now, many years later, but little surprises us about the extent of his dangers.  We are extremely lucky that our warnings happened to reach the right person in the right position to intervene, if to a limited degree.

It is sobering to consider that we were so close to nuclear war, with a commander-in-chief who would have found the possibility irresistible. More may have happened if the American Psychiatric Association had not silenced us at the height of our influence. There is no question that we need to mobilize all knowledge to understand our capacity for self-destruction and to prevent it, if we are to succeed in our evolutionary task at survival.
