Zoom Link—‘How do We Recover Our Democracy? Democracy as a Sign of Collective Mental Health’

The original authors of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 37 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President and others have the chance, if the funding comes through, to publish a short update and to publicize it at the major conference at the National Press Club we are planning, right before the most consequential presidential election in this nation’s history.

These professionals, perhaps better than anyone, knew what was at stake since the very beginning: we came together because our nation faced not only an existential threat to American democracy, but an existential threat to all humankind. Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is said to have used our book as an “owner’s manual,” and he applied some of the principles we outlined possibly to have prevented nuclear war against North Korea. However, we have been sidelined and stymied in ways that could not prevent further calamities, such as 1.2 million American deaths from Covid-19 mismanagement or the January 6 violent insurrection against the government and attack on democracy—not to mention the collective psychosis of Trump Contagion and the predicament of a third Trump presidential candidacy.

With less than three months remaining until the nation makes its fateful decision, the public has been deprived of our critical expertise, at a critical time, for too long.  We will try to rectify this through a new, short book, published by the World Mental Health Coalition and tentatively titled, The More Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 37 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Warn Anew.

Hence, each of the authors, who have been incredibly prescient at the right time, when the public needed them, has been invited to write a serious, heartfelt commentary. They will articulate to the American people the unspeakable consequences of electing a dangerous dictator to the White House, who has already outlined his plan in Project 2025—which would decisively end our vibrant, 250-year experiment.

Now, what is the best advice or guidance you, as the American public, would like to receive to safeguard our democracy and to save ourselves from potential annihilation? The People are the true sovereigns of a democracy, and professionals are supposed to serve the People, above all other interests, even in their professional capacity.

At this point, although the authors may give a psychological or psychiatric assessment, we endeavor to offer the American public more. We hope to help forge your views about your rights, expand your perspective on the possibilities, and shape your vision for a better future!
