Hope. NONE of the orange baby man's clown show would be happening if he was disqualified day one after forensic psychiatrist Dr Bandy X Lee's report of the five dangerous mental pathologies of Donald Trump.

"Yoon might have perceived a declaration of martial law, for the first time in the country since 1980, as viable because of the recent election of Donald Trump. Under such a coup, 'special measures' can be employed to bring the media under his control, to clamp down on protests, and to subordinate the power of the courts. Yoon’s concept of a 'solution' to his low approval ratings mirrors very closely Trump’s idea of a 'fix' to his election loss in 2020." The parallels are truly frightening. Your analysis of the difference between an "atomized" and "collective" culture is very interesting, the first time that I have heard those terms. Lastly, I shall be borrowing your marvelously descriptive terms: "low on intelligence and high on toxic masculinity"! Touche'!

Or, the leadership of South Korea also squirming under the implacable processing of high impact, informal martial law,resulting from steely resistance to both indiscipline and authoritarianism, orchestrated the formal imposition of martial law. This would be their panicky way of eliciting a parliamentary vote against the draconian excess of martial law, significantly confined by general population applause for the victory over the stifling oppression of formal, power manipulated martial law. This hypothesis is less crazy than the peremptory, abrupt, process preempting imposition of martial law in the 21st century.

Thank you again. There is some hopefulness in how things developed in S. Korea. It's so sad anyway if things have to get to that point. I have to keep in mind that the assumption that people want peace is mistaken because some people (too many!) don't. Trump himself has openly declared (as he usually does, and people dismiss it as hype) how he thrives on conflict. It's so dangerous.

A lesson from an early kingdom, the kingdom of Zimbabwe, centred in the Great Zimbabwe, located in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, may be helpful. The kingdom of Zimbabwe used the bateleur eagle (some argue for fish eagle, at least as a precursor) as a symbol of their nation. This eagle is evident from carvings discovered in the fairly well preserved remains of the Great Zimbabwe. The bateleur eagle is called chapungu in Shona, and it conveys a number of qualities, such as eagle-eyed watchfulness, strength, flexibility and endurance, and considerable, sometimes spectacular, aerobatics. Chapungu is also the name of the Air Force of Zimbabwe soccer/football team. The bateleur eagle is recognizable from the sculptures by its long raptor legs and extensive raptor wings (the bateleur eagle is short-tailed). An exponent of wing chun might propose, together with philosopher and cleric, that population peace is best preserved through the watchfulness of an eagle, together with its strength, endurance and versatility. There is also a martial eagle, which is a different bird altogether. G-d bless!

The thing to remember, South Korea, like Brazil, have living memories of dictatorships, so that is why both nations acted decisively in the face of a resurgence of autocracy. Other than elderly African Americans who lived in the apartheid south, American are very provincial with no living memories of authoritarian leadership and its consequences.

Whar?!?!? Other than elderly African Americans? Not just the elderly but most African Americans understand living under a sort of authoritarian society. We’ve made tremendous progress but the boot has never come off our necks. This is why as a whole we vote a certain way and support certain policies. Trust me, the atrocities done to humans gets into the human spirit and is passed down generations, it never goes away. We could see trump and what he represents coming from a mile away but like always our voices go unheeded and unheard. America unfortunately is getting ready to learn a lesson the hard way.

How to Stop Authoritarians Before They Start

🔸️FITNESS FOR DUTY EVALUATIONS that are mandatory, like the military for high responsibility positions, would have stopped Trump before he got within a mile of the White House.

Bandy X Lee, Steven Hassan, and 100 other psychiatrists agree Trump has five dangerous mental pathologies as listed in the books "The More Dangerous Case of Donald Trump" and "The Psychology Of Trump Contagion - An Existential Threat to American Democracy and All Humankind".

"Containing Trump Contagion and Healing from Mental Pathology in Politics"

https://youtu.be/HTkCqU5LM-k?si=f6g0PolglC21w1nR

🔸️Fitness for Duty Evaluations start with everyone who interacts with the individual in question, and when red flags start to appear, 'say something.'

The US Military has procedures to follow that require individuals in question to have a Fitness for Duty Evaluation. Voters must demand the House and Senate do the same.

"Stephen Xenakis- Fitness for Duty Exams: Preventing Autocratic Abuse"

https://youtu.be/vdtChF07ryU?si=VJ5dauWFoUQg10uH

🔸️Outside the military are professionals like Dr. Bandy X. Lee who has several dozen colleagues all of whom are highly qualified to do Fitness for Duty Evaluations.

The U.S. House and Senate have several mechanisms to enforce their rules, including:

* Leadership

* Committees

* Floor Procedures

* Party Discipline

It's important to note that these mechanisms are not always used consistently or effectively. The more voters demand mentally fit leaders the more the House and Senate will comply.

🔸️I like what forensic psychologist Dr. Bandy X. Lee says that fascism and authoritarianism are just dangerous mental pathologies that worm their way into politics.

Everyone on Earth deserves and demands leadership that is mentally fit.

Fitness for Duty Evaluations performed by well respected psychiatrists ensures every country has leaders who do not serve their own power, but serve their own people.

With a pool of mentally fit candidates, we then have all the elections we wish.

I find that no matter how much I share Dr. Lee’s and others warnings with my friends/ acquaintances, who I know voted and were semi tuned in to the election; they continue to ‘check out’ when I describe the dangerous path we are on come January. They don’t want to know. Some say, “we just have to pray” or “you have to live your life” or “you worry too much”. It’s maddening. These same people rely on social media, don't read much, and if they do read they simply absorb and don’t question sources. They hover in the ‘moderately concerned’ lane. I read tons and vary my media sources, though I have cut back severely. Since the election what I do see is social media “influencers” have declared war on “mainstream media” and spend countless hours mocking Trump supporters whose families disinvited them from T’giving. On the other side, a good part of MSM continues to litigate what the Dems did wrong and (remarkably criticize Kamala Harris) and obsessively cover “off the record” Republicans who are unconscionably telling us they have no opinion about Hegsbeth, RFK Jr, Patel and the other outright criminals/despots being announced to ‘lead’ come January. I do feel strongly that some in MSM like Nicole Wallace, Lawrence O’Donnell, and Rachel Maddow continue to provide good analysis of the danger. And, I think critically enough to disagree/oppose certain features and guests. A freight train without brakes and filled with explosives is barreling down the tracks heading towards American Democracy. Do Americans see it? In the end, I am worried that most Americans will not take action if individually and early on they don’t feel the impact or have the attitude that the situation is helpless.

By the way, the creep of Christian Nationalism is upon us. While watching a documentary on Netflix, repeated advertising for film on a platform called “FREEFORM” keeps popping up. I researched and the platform is owned by Christian broadcasting. The content reflects persuasion with Christian themes.

Appreciate the history and analysis comparing South Korea to U.S. Vital questions -- if Trump were to declare martial law how would the citizenry and the media respond? The people already are polarized. And in light of the billionaire-owned Washington Post's and LA Times' cow-towing to Trump before the election by not endorsing Harris, it's a fair question - to question how the Fourth Estate would respond. The hope is that Trump's inane cabinet picks and absurd claim to a mandate that empowers him to do whatever the hell he pleases, will start waking up some less radical folks on the right. I suspect some already have buyer's remorse.

Beyond that, as pundits still scramble to diagnose where Harris and the Dems went wrong, the people seem resigned and to already have crawled into their rabbit holes. Meanwhile, there's a growing legitimate suspicion that the 2024 election indeed was rigged for Trump. There are simply too many anomalies. I have no doubt that's the case. Right now cyber security experts are scrutinizing the election results and urging swing state hand recounts/audits. Follow SmartElections.us, to stay tuned. Also, you can follow my posts (I broke the "duty to warn" letters to Harris story) and Stephen Spoonamore on substack.

My point is two-fold: The American citizenry may have just witnessed, right before their eyes, the biggest and most destructive swindle of the Republic yet -- but virtually no one in the media or on the street is talking about it. Has complacency already set in? The facts are indisputable -- the U.S. election system software is easily hacked and has been compromised in the recent past. Additionally, if we don't fix our broken election system now -- before the tyrant in waiting retakes the Oval -- the fix may be in for good.

I am so grateful for your intelligent and compassionate strengths in this time. I had not realized the background from which your study of authoritarian personality and violence had arisen. I must confess my Eurocentric background has had me totally focused upon our Bonhoeffer moment rather than the universal human ascendency of the authoritarian personality cult. Thank you so much.

With Trump coming to White House next month, the tinpot dictators around the world will try to imitate his style. Bolsanaro tried to imitate Trump's Jan 6 attempt in Brazil. Fortunately, he failed and Brazilian courts also banned him from public office (at least for a duration). In America, the SCOTUS garlanded Trump with total immunity so that he can become President again.

Regarding “rejection of intelligence and sanity” in the Trump era. Here’s another contribution to the growth of both. Thank you Bandy for your informed and thoughtful perspective on the mirror of ugliness. And of course, I believe the US was complicit via the CIA in the rise of dictatorship in SKorea. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Dr. Lee, thank you for your continued education on these issues. I just watched the documentary "Bad Faith" (2024) https://youtu.be/6WYseVO29ZU?feature=shared about White Christian Nationalism and their unholy war on democracy. It seems that this contagion proliferate fast in the warm, sweaty, humid segregated churches of America. Rooted in the Council For National Policy in America. I am certain they derivatives played a large part in implementing the gag order when you and your colleagues first spoke out. The documentary mentions the ties between BIG Oil Tycoons, Megachruches, and Trump's transactional dealings with them.

Could you give us a primer on how to begin making the crucial conversational points that can help separate "Christianity" from "White Christian Nationalism." Many who continue to fuel Trump's power ALSO have these mental pathologies, and a lot of it stems from ignorance, Bad Faith, Dogma, False Beliefs, Blasphemy, and outright Hypocrisy.

They view Trump like a "Pagan King Cyrus God" They view him as a Greek God, a protector in wings with a Red Tie. In his mental illness and amplified delusion (which they dont care about because it maintains their hope) he is being praised and championed as a sort of Trojan Horse to help save Christian Evangelicals, New Apostolic Reformation, Opus Dei, Theocracy Bros. Etc.

Barbara Kellerman of Harvard Leadership advises that 1.) Leaders, 2.) Followers, and 3.) Context form the Triangle of Good or Bad Leadership as a whole, and all permit the leader to exist. What can average citizens do at this point to drastically reduce the power of Trump's massive propaganda orbit, reduce the self-righteousness of equating Trumpism with Godliness, and finally.
