I had concluded that the Freedom Caucus and other election deniers were simply acting out a role in order to maintain their political status. That they have been "infected" with Trump's mental illness helps to explain the situation.
Presidents have regular physical exams, but not by independent doctors. I think they should be conducted by doctors responsible to the public, with the results made publicly available. The same for mental health exams. Nominees for President should be examined, both physically and mentally, before the election, and the winner examined yearly at least, with the results published in the news media.
